National Prairie Day was established in 2016 by the Missouri Prairie Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to prairie preservation. Their goal is to promote appreciation for and awareness of the nation’s grasslands, focusing on the importance of preservation of the diverse wildlife and plant species that thrive in the prairie ecosystem.
