City to temporarily update Aggieville Parking Garage rates and parking requirements

City of Manhattan News Posted on April 22, 2026

(MANHATTAN, Kan. – April 22, 2026) — Starting June 1, 2026, the City of Manhattan will temporarily suspend hourly parking rates for the Aggieville Parking Garage to support business and district access for visitors during upcoming Moro Street reconstruction.

During their April 21 meeting, City Commissioners voted (5 to 0) to eliminate hourly fees, ParkMobile registration and nose-in parking requirements, along with adding a 48-hour parking time limit within the Aggieville Parking Garage.

The City will also begin repainting all parking spaces in the Aggieville Parking Garage to wider, 90-degree stalls on the way up the parking garage, and angled stalls on the way down the garage. This modification should allow for greater ease of use for the customer while parking and exiting the garage.

City staff expects the suspension of registration and daily parking rates to be temporary while Moro Street construction is underway, likely through 2027 or 2028. Once the project is complete and construction is substantially complete in the district, the City will present a broader parking plan for the business district, nearby neighborhoods, and City Park for the City Commission to review and consider. It is important to note, the changes approved by the City Commission are for the Aggieville Parking Garage only, and do not impact the Downtown Parking Garage. Those rules, regulations, and rates will remain the same.
